LOTTO LUCKY NUMBERS - Appearance Frequency

The table on the left is a representation of the frequency of appearances throughout the history of the national lottery uk. This is more for background information about which winning numbers historically have been the most successful in terms of appearance.

The table has been split into the frequency of winning numbers appearances of the main lotto balls and seperately for the Bonus Ball. The two combined are totalled in the fourth column from the left.

The Minimum and Maximum rows at the top of the table highlight the huge difference between the lowest performing winning numbers, which ironically or not is Number 13 with a total number of appearances since 1994 of 170, and the highest ranked overall (incl BB appearances) winning numbers being number 38 with a total number of appearance currently standing at 250 (updated Fri 30/10/09).

The table is colour coded for the relevant winning number ranges in the national lottery uk, as discussed on the previous page, and the table can be further annalysed to give an idea of ratios between the different ranges.

The mathematical train of thought may suggest that the winning numbers with the lowest number of appearances need to catch up, and I have no doubt that over a long period of time they probably will. In the short term I would argue that quite the opposite appears to be true;

Take Lotto Ball Number 17 which, in the national lottery uk is a middle of the range performer and had appeared in all 3 of the last 3 lottery draws examples 1408-1410, It would have reset the boundaries if it had come up in the next 2 draws as during the last 1400 draws no number has ever produced that result as a main Lottery number. I therefore discounted it completely from any selection for the following 2 weeks. This is discussed further on the "Number Generation" page.

Essentially what we are currently trying to do is to narrow down what balls we should select for a draw in the national lottery uk and therefore substantially reduce the odds before we make a selection for this specific lottery.

We have produced some tables and spreadsheets which will be able to help with this process and give the resulting numbers a weighting making selection alot easier each week. We hope to make those spreadsheets available in the near future. We hope these will be a useful tool in selecting your winning numbers. The spreadsheets have so far only been compiled for the national lottery uk.
