LOTTERY SECRETS - Highs & Lows
Mode Numbers are the most commonly appearing draws within the specified range.
The Median is an average.
It is one way of describing a distribution using just one value. The median is the middle value in a distribution. For an odd number of data it is the middle one when they are placed in ascending or descending order e.g. for scores of 13, 14, 15, 18, 18 it is 15, and for scores of 16, 12, 17, 14, 14 it is 14.
We will only touch on one of the Lottery Systems that covers highs and lows theories in this section although there are at least 2 quite seperate discussions that could be put into a Lottery category with such a name.
We have examined "Ranges" amongst the lottery balls. For those of you who have been using fixed numbers all in the 30's & 40's, you may be a little dissappointed at this little revelation;

In the above table we have split the UK Lottery 49 numbers into ranges. The first 5 Lotto balls are in ranges of 8 numbers each and the 6th represents the final 9. This colour coding and ranging technique has been adopted throughout the website. The mathemeticians amongst you will ask the question; "why do it like this?" in actual fact you could adopt your own range in any way i.e. Odd numbers and Evens, or numbers divisible by 3,4,5 or 6. The important factor in my mind is to remain consistent in whichever method of analysis you decide suits you best.
The data in the table is based on all UK lottery numbers drawn since November 1994
i.e. Draw 1. The table omits additional or "one off" draws except for the Jubilee draw number 672.
The Lotto Draw Range Minimums and Maximums are also subject to a couple of rules;
For all calculations throughout the winning numbers project the numbers are categorised into their ranges. This is done by rearranging the balls into ascending order i.e. Balls 1-49, therefore Ball 1 will always be the lowest number selected and Ball six the highest. We deal with the Bonus Ball seperately as we can only choose 6 numbers and ideally would like them to be the main 6 balls.
You can see that in over 1400 draws the lowest ball drawn has never been higher than 30 (25/07/09). We are not saying that it will never happen in the future and I am a firm believer that these things will even out over time, but for the last 15 years of the UK Lottery it hasn't happened yet and therefore is unlikely to happen tomorrow!
